Marshawn Lynch, Kam Chancellor Injury Updates

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch wasn’t at risk of missing yesterday’s big game against the Kansas City Chiefs, but he was listed questionable on the injury report with a calf injury after missing practice to start the week. Lynch has been listed on the injury report at various points during the year, mostly for rest purposes, but he was usually only listed probable. I think this was the first time the Seahawks listed him as questionable, but his status wasn’t in any doubt by the time Sunday rolled around.

The injury is legit, though, as Lynch has been busy taking punishment and picking up nicks and bruises this season. According to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer’s Stephen Cohen, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll stated on 710 ESPN Seattle that Lynch is “flat banged up” at this point in the season. Despite the calf injury, Lynch managed to blast the Chiefs for 124 yards, and he continues to put the “he won’t be back” rumors behind him. Lynch was beyond sensational in Week 10, and he certainly followed that up nicely with a good performance against an even better run defense. The Seahawks have a big game against the rival Arizona Cardinals next week, and they will once again rely on their most important player this year to carry them on the ground.

Carroll also stated on 710 ESPN Seattle, via Cohen, that strong safety Kam Chancelleor is “very close” to 100%. Another tough guy, Chancellor missed Week 10’s big win over the New York Giants with a groin injury before returning yesterday. He played well, and Carroll stated that the Seahawks wouldn’t have played Chancellor if he weren’t close to full strength. The star SS played pretty well, as he recorded six tackles and looked solid in run defense despite the fact that most of his teammates were embarrassed by Jamaal Charles.
