Brandin Cooks has been placed on the IR list by the New Orleans Saints because of his thumb injury. That will cut his rookie season short.

Brandin Cooks has been placed on the IR by the New Orleans Saints and that will end his rookie season. He was having a strong year until he broke his thumb. At first thought, we believed that he would only be out for 2-4 weeks. Then the team and Cooks decided to have surgery on the thumb and it extended the timeline to 4-6 weeks. The team decided that it is best to cut his season short and have him ready for 2015.

The Saints are at the top of their division with a sad 4-6 record, but they just need to get into the playoffs and get hot. Without Cooks, the team will need to rely on another player to produce at the receiver spot. Cooks led the receivers on the roster with 550 yards and 53 receptions. He also added 3 touchdowns to the team.

The Saints will miss his presence on the field and will have to rely on Robert Meachem, Nick Toon and Joe Morgan to step their games up in that open spot on the field.

Cooks was one of the best rookie receivers in the game. His season will be cut short, but he should be ready to go by the start of next season and should be able to continue the path that he left of with. Hopefully the Saints will have a better cast of players and can find more wins next season though.
