Prior to the start of the season the Miami Dolphins were expected to contend in the AFC as a potential playoff team. There is no denying that this year’s version of the Dolphins was a drastic disappointment. The Dolphins, much like most NFL team’s expected to be playing in January. However, for the second straight season a collapsed crippled them from achieving their goal.

Despite the season not ending to their liking, there are a lot of positives to take away from 2014. One obvious thing to point at is the quarterback Ryan Tannehill. In his third season he has improved greatly. In large part to the offensive coordinator Bill Lazor. Tannehill finished with careers high in nearly every major category, proving he is worth a potential long term deal.

Another aspect of the offense that needs to be acknowledged is the running game. Led by Lamar Miller, the Dolphins found the stability they did not have last season. Miller had his first 1,000 yard season and finished with a career high eight touchdowns.

It’s not all high and dandy in Miami, though. The defense failed to perform to their standards down the stretch. At the halfway point of the season the unit was statistically ranked one of the top defenses in the league. That quickly changed as injuries in the secondary and linebacker position derailed Miami defense late in the year.

Aside from the drama that is the Miami Dolphins, the season has now come to an end. It is important to recognize the hard work and dedication committed by the players. With that being said, here are the 2014 Miami Dolphins awards.

Enjoy.
