With the 2014 NFL season over for 20 franchises, and several more soon to follow, it’s 2015 NFL Mock Draft season here at Spin Zone.  Today, we bring your our fifth Mock Draft of the season in what will be a weekly instalment picking up towards Draft day on April 30th in Chicago.  Recent Mocks can be found here:

Leading up to late April, resources such as Walter Football, EDSfootball.com, and DC Sports Report are great to have bookmarked for a steady stream of Mock Drafts and prospect information.

The first week of January is still very early in terms of prospect evaluation.  The majority of these players have played their final game in college, but events such as the Senior Bowl and the ever-important NFL Scouting Combine will send some prospects shooting up the board, with tumbling straight down.  This early in the process, I find it unproductive to debate whether a prospect is worthy of the 8th pick instead of the 10th, or the 19th instead of the 21st.  Much will change in the coming months.

Instead, let’s use these Mock Drafts as an opportunity to debate the prospects as football players, argue for your team’s selections and, hopefully, learn a little along the way.  We welcome all of your comments below, especially on your team’s selection, but don’t forget to include what you would change, who you would pick, and most importantly: why!

48. With Oregon’s Rose Bowl victory over Jameis Winston and FSU, Mariota secured his spot atop my 2015 NFL Mock Draft.  A rocky first half was quickly forgotten with a dominant second, as Mariota threw for 338 yards and 2 TD while running for 62 and another score.  Tabbing a QB listed as “mobile” with the #1 Pick has become a little nerve-wracking in recent seasons, but I see Mariota as “Intelligently Mobile”.  Much in the way you might see <strong><a href=. USC. Leonard Williams. 2. player. 35. The Titans will surely be tempted to take Jameis Winston in this spot, but this is a franchise fairly void of reason for excitement, and they can’t afford to swing-and-miss with a Quarterback 2nd Overall.  Winston would carry too much risk, especially with a Head Coach who hasn’t proven himself to be a QB whisperer.  Instead, Tennessee makes the smart pick with USC’s 6’5, 300lb <strong><a href=. player. 52. If you’d like to watch how a pre-draft process can impact a player’s stock, keep an eye on Gregory.  At 6’6, 255lbs, the Cornhusker has a massive frame that he could afford to bulk up, but some evaluators have expressed hesitation over his ability to dominate physically in the NFL.  A strong Scouting Combine could change this in a flash, or push him towards the bottom of the top 10.  It’s too bad for Jacksonville that this draft seems to lack the can’t-miss, top-3 Offensive Lineman, as <strong><a href=. DE/OLB. Nebraska. Randy Gregory. 3

player. 28. Amari Cooper is a fascinating prospect to keep tabs on, because despite being the undisputed top player at a skill position, he doesn’t really have the “wow” factor that makes him jump off the screen.  He may not pull off the catches you see from <strong><a href=. WR. Alabama. Amari Cooper. 4
