Five NFL Draft sleepers Jacksonville Jaguars need to consider

The 2015 NFL draft is roughly three months away. College all-star games, the Indianapolis combine, and individual pro days on college campuses have all yet to take place. That being said, there still might be some sleeper names that haven’t yet catapulted onto the NFL radar. However, he’s a sneak peak at some of the names Jacksonville Jaguars fans should make themselves familiar with before this lengthy draft process begins.

5) Karlos Williams- RB Florida State: Williams comes with serious off the field baggage which included an investigation on an alleged domestic assault case as well as an armed robbery case. These issues will almost certainly make Williams available at the tail end of the draft. However, there are few questions about Williams’ skills as a runner in the open field. I would not be surprised if the running back needy Jaguars end up making a play for Florida State’s leading touchdown scorer in 2014.

4) Tyler Kroft- TE Rutgers: An early entry candidate for the NFL, this six-foot-six inch junior earned first-team All-Big East honors in 2013. That season was Kroft’s finest year with the Scarlet Knights as he was the team leader in catches (43) and receiving yards (573). Unfortunately for Kroft, his production dipped this season, only registering 24 receptions for 269 yards. His inconsistency will hurt his draft stock, but he could be an option for Jacksonville on day three of the draft since starting tight end Marcedes Lewis is getting long in the tooth at age 30.

3) Rob Havenstein- OT Wisconsin: A three-year starter at right tackle for the Badgers, Havenstein would provide some desperately needed depth to the porous Jaguars’ offensive line. Havenstein is a pure road grader in every way, shape, and form. The six-foot-eight, 330 pounder is as physical as they come, and he has the durability to match. Havenstein has started every game for the past three years at Wisconsin and captured first-team All-Big Ten honors in 2014. Havenstein’s limitations as a pass blocker should make him available in the later rounds.

2) Doran Grant- CB Ohio State: This two year starter has slowly but surely gotten better each year during his time in Columbus. Once stuck behind All-Big Ten corners Bradley Roby and Travis Howard on the depth chart, Grant registered a career high five INT’s this past season. At five-foot-eleven inches and 195 pounds, Grant has adequate size for his position and is not afraid to support the run. Grant will be able to add depth to the shaky Jags’ secondary as a middle round pick.

1) Mike Davis- RB South Carolina: For the past two seasons, this rugged junior tailback has led the Gamecocks in rushing. In addition to his success in between the tackles, Davis has caught over 30 passes in each of the last two seasons as well. At five-foot-nine and a stout 220 pounds, Davis possesses a similar build and skill set to that of 49’ers star runner Frank Gore. In my opinion, Jacksonville is in prime position to select the standout SEC performer at the top of round three.
