Nobody really knows what the Dallas Cowboys will do with the 27th overall selection of the NFL Draft. They could use it on a needed cornerback, on a pash rusher, on a running back or even trade it for a veteran running back already in the NFL.

More from Dallas Cowboys

Let’s put the No. 27 overall pick aside for right now and let’s take a look at what the Cowboys could do in the late rounds, with players they could possibly select in the later rounds in the draft, one position in particular at defensive end.

With Greg Hardy given a 10-game suspension for off-the-field actions, the Cowboys are in need of more depth at defensive end and with their pass rushing abilities, because it was a spot that hampered their play last season, even in a year where they won the NFC East championship.

But let’s say for the sake of argument the Cowboys don’t look at a defensive end in the first three or four rounds but maybe once, that leaves the Cowboys looking to add more depth at the defensive end spot in rounds five and seven, because they don’t have a sixth round choice currently, trading that pick last season to the Baltimore Ravens for linebacker Rolando McClain.

There are some “project players” who with a little coaching could be steals in this draft, and in the later rounds (Day 3) that is what all 32 teams in the NFL are looking for … the bargains at a discount rate.

The Cowboys are in that boat as well, as here are five potential defensive ends “America’s Team” could select with their one fifth round choice or one of the two seventh round selections they currently have.
