The 2015 NFL draft is just one day away, and the Washington Redskins currently hold the fifth overall pick. Since the start of the common draft in 1967, the Redskins have selected a total of 25 players in the first round of the draft. While Washington has whiffed on a number of their first round choices, they have also selected a handful of very gifted football players.

For this particular piece, I’ll be ranking the Redskins top five first-round draft picks of all time. Seeing as how Washington has only selected 25 players in the first round since 1967, I’ll be ranking the top 20 percent of their first round selections.

While I’m confident in the players that I’ve selected as the top five, a few players just barely missed the cut. LaVar Arrington, who had a few really good years for Washington, is one of the players in question. Ryan Kerrigan is another guy who finished right outside of the top five. Unlike Arrington, Kerrigan still has time to improve his ranking among his peers that were selected in the first round.

Let’s get things started with an honorable mention.
