Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jameis Winston will light up NFL

There will always be a certain level of expectations in place when you are drafted No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft. In this year’s draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers boldly took a chance with quarterback Jameis Winston as the first overall pick. They are truly hoping that he will not only exceed expectations but finally be the catalyst needed in turning their franchise around for the better.

It’s not easy to have your season end at 2-14 and expect such an extreme turnaround the following season but it is in my opinion that Winston could indeed be a big part of it. At 6’4″ and 230 pounds, Winston has an incredible skill-set that could put this team on his back straight to success.

In just two years at Florida State, he totaled 7,964 yards passing, 65 touchdowns and 28 interceptions. With an overall quarterback rating of 163.3, there’s a big reason why the Buccaneers took a chance with Winston.

With his dual-threat capabilities, Winston will indeed be the next big thing to hit the NFL. It couldn’t have come to a more fitting team considering the Buccaneers struggles in recent years. One has to feel for one of the best fan bases in the league. Now with Winston in the mix, it will help ease those frustrations and turn this ship around.

As a proven winner in college football, he has what it takes to lead this franchise. The Buccaneers will surely put measures in place to ensure he stays on the right track since it would be in the best interest of everyone to make sure he doesn’t end up making headlines outside of the football. Success on and off the field will put Winston in a better light to the public and let the focus solely be on winning plenty of football games for the Buccaneers.

Winston signed a four-year, $23.35 million dollar contract to give him a window to start, grow and evolve into an elite quarterback the likes of which the NFL hasn’t seen since Andrew Luck was unleashed to the league back in 2012. Winston will have somewhat of a chip on his shoulder to prove that he is indeed the real deal as I truly believe he will set records in his rookie season for many categories because he’s that talented.

Overall, I’m giving Winston a clean slate because I honestly believe he will put the Buccaneers on top of the NFC South in glorious fashion. It’ll happen quickly and the Buccaneers will look like a completely transformed team with him under center. Remember, at Florida State he was a vocal and fiery leader that commanded his team to victory in almost every game he started. He will translate that quite nicely at the next level of his career.
