Todd Gurley will reignite St. Louis Rams’ offensive attack

When it comes to the St. Louis Rams, the team can only head in a better direction considering what happened last season. Ending their efforts with a 6-10 record, they were unable to get any rhythm on offense, let alone get a running back to at least achieve over 1,000 yards on the ground. It’s easy to see why the Rams elected to get more play-makers on offense during the offseason but truly made quite the splash when they drafted running back Todd Gurley with their No. 10 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.

At 6’1 and 236 pounds, Gurley in his collegiate career at Georgia contributed 3,285 yards on 510 attempts for 36 touchdowns. His 6.4 yards per attempt are pretty impressive as he has a knack for being able to speed through defenders or plow his way to first downs. His balance of speed and power is truly something to watch.

It’s no secret that if the Rams want to make some noise in the NFC West, it all starts we having Gurley reignite the Rams’ offense to new heights. With new quarterback Nick Foles in the mix, the Rams have the offensive weapons needed to really push the envelope come next season.

Behind every good quarterback is a solid running back to add another important dimension on offense. Looking at how effective the rushing attacks across the division are, it’s about time the Rams joined the party and now have their own rushing attack ready to be deployed.

With Tre Mason and Isaiah Pead also in the mix, the Rams have their running back corps set to really make some noise next season. Even though Gurley is still recovering from his torn ACL injury of last year, once he’s fully recovered he should be able to be eased in and ready for a key role on offense.

Once Gurley hits the field and is ready to contribute, he has the skill-set to not only live up to his potential but also make the Rams have quite the offensive attack. With Foles now running the ship, the Rams could be quite the turnaround team considering how solid their defense is and what Gurley brings to the table.

Since the majority of teams across the league usually tend to rely on the passing game, the better teams put importance on a strong running game. It opens everything up from play-action plays, game clock management and keeping your opponents second-guessing on what is coming next.

While many believe the Rams made a mistake drafting yet another running back into their team, they know they couldn’t pass up on such a play-maker like Gurley. With his ability to break tackles with ease and also compliment the passing game with his dual-threat abilities, he will be quite the weapon on a Rams’ offense that is ready to take off in 2015.

Overall, Gurley brings excitement to the Rams since he has the potential to really put this team back on the map and be a contender once again. While they play in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL, if they stick to their ground game and really put Gurley in a position to thrive, they will definitely surprise many this upcoming season.
