Washington Redskins: Time to make a bold MNF statement
The Washington Redskins have a golden opportunity tonight to make a bold statement on Monday Night Football.
It’s amazing to believe that in early December with a record of 5-6, the Redskins without a winning record, are actually in first place of the NFC East. Tonight on Monday Night Football, they have a very important division rivalry game against the Dallas Cowboys. It’s the perfect opportunity to make a bold statement and ride some incredible momentum to finish the season on a high note.

The Cowboys have to be quite concerned heading into tonight’s match-up due to the fact that they’ll be without quarterback Tony Romo yet again but this time, for the rest of the season due to his broken collarbone injury. While many are confident that Matt Cassel can indeed get the job done, reality speaks otherwise.

Romo has been the main catalyst on the Cowboys’ offense and without him under center, are a completely different team. While wide receiver Dez Bryant should be playing tonight, he usually doesn’t do too well without his preferred quarterback.
Considering the fact that the Redskins so far this season have yet to post back-to-back wins, they should be extremely motivated to take care of business against the Cowboys in is one of the most historic rivalries in all the NFL. Both teams have been pretty bad this season, but the Redskins should be favored tonight thanks to everything quarterback Kirk Cousins brings to the table.
Cousins has been playing relatively good football and puts the Redskins in a good position to win since he’s been steadily improving on a weekly basis. He made headlines a few weeks ago with his famous “You like that!” phrase after a win and his competitive energy adds a nice dimension to the overall identity of the Redskins.
The Redskins are 2-1 against division rivals and a win tonight puts them in a great position to win all tie-breakers to earn a spot in the NFL Playoffs. They’re also 6-1 at home in FedEx Field thanks to playing very well in front of their home crowd. The cards are definitely in their favor as now it’s just a matter of everything coming together and having the them play tonight with major confidence that they can indeed be the team to beat in the NFC East.
With good team leadership and an overall much-improved attitude for the Redskins so far this season, they enter this game with their postseason hopes in their hands. One better believe that the Redskins will know what is truly at stake if they don’t take care of business against the Cowboys tonight.

Sometimes a team doesn’t have to have all the talent in the world to find success. It’s about sharing a common theme all throughout the roster that executing, accountability and putting in extra work can yield incredible results no matter what talent you have. So far this season, it’s impressive to see the Redskins keep everyone in check and grounded to do best is best for the overall success of the team.
It’s refreshing to see that compared to the past few seasons of the Redskins, things are heading in the right direction slowly but surely. If they truly want to end their postseason drought, it’s time for them to make a bold statement against their division rival in front of the prime time lights and keep pushing throughout the rest of December. Once you get a ticket in the playoffs, there is no telling what can truly happen with any given team.
