Steve Smith Sr. of the Baltimore Ravens tweeted a response to the confrontational comments made by rookie cornerback Jalen Ramsey

In Week 3, the Jacksonville Jaguars losing 19-17 to the Baltimore Ravens to go 0-3 for the season. After the fact, cornerback Jalen Ramsey had some strong words for wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. It was one of those instances where an arrogant rookie mouthed off nonsense about a veteran NFL player who has had a Pro Football Hall of Fame worthy career.

At the end of the day, the Jaguars lost a close game to a Ravens team that is now 3-0 to start. They won a close game and as always, great teams know how to win even if it isn’t pretty. Ramsey decided to spew nonsense without understanding it was only a matter of time before he got a response. Directly from his Twitter account, Smith responded back in a way only he can:

It’s not surprising, to say the least since Ramsey was hiding behind closed doors talking to the media when he called Smith out. Facts are facts. And while the football world will never really know what really transpired and who is speaking the truth, Ramsey looks like he’s in the wrong regardless.

Smith is 37-years-old and still playing effective football. He obviously isn’t the same player he was once was, but is still getting the job done. Perhaps Ramsey should be more focused on helping his Jaguars actually win their first game of the season rather than stirring the pot against a prolific wide receiver that will one day be wearing a golden jacket.

Overall, Smith’s response was perfect. The rookie is simply a young adult who has yet to sharpen his teeth in the football world. Ramsey could only hope to even have half of the accolades Smith has accumulated over his career. But by the looks of it, he’ll probably continue to do more talking and not enough playing to even get close to such perennial success.
