The poor Cleveland Browns just can’t catch a break. A week after that infamous fumble call that went against Duke Johnson, the Browns have another rough moment to add to their list.

The Week 1 botched snap to Robert Griffin III will end up going down as the Cleveland Browns worst play of the regular season. But they added another safety to their record in today’s game against the New England Patriots that was every big as bad.

Somehow, the Browns forgot to block Patriots star linebacker Dont’a Hightower, whose blitzes have become quite famous ever since he entered the league in 2012. Cody Kessler tried to avoid the situation, but the referees ruled his attempt as a backward pass, giving the Patriots a safety.

Kessler tied things up earlier with a touchdown pass to Andrew Hawkins, but after a Martellus Bennett touchdown reception from a beastly Tom Brady, their lead was short-lived. After this safety, the Patriots are up 16-7, and there’s always the chance that Brady simply builds on it in a big way.

It’s almost hilarious how Kessler panics and gets rid of this pass. I would be scared of Hightower bearing down on me quickly and getting ready to slam me into the turf, but Kessler pretty much faced the back of his own end zone before trying to get rid of the football.

This was bad, but Kessler’s Dan Orlovsky impression from the preseason still comes in as his most embarrassing play as a rookie. To make matters worse, Kessler was injured on the play and Charlie Whitehurst took over for the next series.
