It took until overtime, but the Dallas Cowboys were able to overcome a strong push by the Philadelphia Eagles. Here’s what we can take away from the win.

When it looks like the Dallas Cowboys have had more than they can handle since the preseason this year, they’ve managed to show their poise and overcome the obstacles in front of them. That was the case on Sunday Night Football for the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium.

Though it took until overtime, the Cowboys defeated the Eagles, 29-23, taking a two-game lead over Philadelphia in the NFC East standings in what was the first of their two regular-season meetings this season. Not only was that the sixt- straight win for the Cowboys, but it moves them to 6-1 overall. Meanwhile the Eagles fell into a tie with the New York Giants at 4-3 overall, and the Washington Redskins are right there at 4-3-1.

Sunday night wasn’t perfect for the Cowboys by a long shot. Rookie quarterback Das Prescott made some mistakes, the offensive line wasn’t completely solid against a strong Eagles blitz package, and the play-calling at times was suspect.

That said, the way the Cowboys came from behind and played in the fourth quarter and overtime was outstanding, especially coming off their bye. They proved to many how they are able to look at some adversity in the face and overcome it. That was something that would have not happened last season, but this year this team seems to have that extra belief in themselves.

What was exciting more than anything is when the Cowboys scored the game-winning drive, it was the veteran captain of the team who was the one who got open and made the wide-open touchdown in the end zone. Jason Witten proved why he’s not only the glue that holds the Cowboys together, but why he’s a future Hall of Fame selection once his playing career is complete.

A lot occurred on Sunday night, and here are five takeaways from the sixth consecutive win by the Cowboys this season.
