Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston would not go down for the sack and then delivered a beautiful throw to Mike Evans.

One of the defining characteristics of Tampa Bay Buccaneers second-year quarterback Jameis Winston is his inconsistency. There are times where you wonder how he even got drafted. Then there are other times when he looks like he could someday be the best quarterback in the league. In the third quarter against the Chicago Bears in Week 10, he made a play that falls heavily in the latter category.

Winston dropped back to pass and was almost immediately met by the Bears pass rush. They pushed him back, and back, and then back further until he was scrambling in the end zone. However, he somehow was able to avoid the first guy. Even more incredible, Jameis Winston then got away from the second guy.

Just for good measure, the Bucs quarterback avoided a third Chicago pass rusher before finally being up near the line of scrimmage once again. That’s when he could breathe for a moment and uncorked a bomb down the middle of the field. The throw was an absolute strike to Mike Evans and his big receiver came down with a nice catch to complete one of the more absurd plays you’ll see in Week 10:

This is why many people believe that Jameis Winston can be a superstar. Yes, he looks awkward when he’s scrambling. However, it’s not normal for him to be able to avoid going down on that play. And it’s even less normal that he can dodge three guys and then deliver a strike for a 39-yard gain. If he can start showing consistency with more moments like this than not, the Bucs have a superstar on their hands.
