Eric Berry got Matt Ryan for a gorgeous pick-six, but then made our hearts warm by handing the ball to his mom in the stands.

There might not be a better story in the NFL than that of Kansas City Chiefs safety Eric Berry. It was heartbreaking when news broke a few years ago that he was diagnosed with cancer. However, he fought through it with experimental treatment to beat the disease and come back ready to suit up. And not only has been back on the field, but he’s been just as dominant as before. The Atlanta Falcons and Matt Ryan can attest to this.

In a tie-game late in the second quarter, Ryan was thinking about getting points to take a halftime lead at home. Still backed up in their own territory, though, the MVP-candidate made the mistake of trying to test Berry.

Looking for Taylor Gabriel, Ryan threw a dart into the middle of the field. However, Berry recognized where the play was going and jumped the route. He took the ball with ease, but then got his return-juice flowing. Breaking one tackle in the middle of the field, Berry then cut it out to the left sideline where he used some nice blocks and his speed to dash into the end zone for the score. And because Eric Berry doesn’t do anything except make football awesome, he went right to the stands after the pick-six to give the ball to his mom:

It may be snowing in some places in Week 13, but it’s all warm feelings in Atlanta.

Berry has been making pick-sixes look relatively routine this season, as crazy as that sounds. This is his second in the last three weeks, which is huge for the Chiefs. This one was also huge in that it gave the Chiefs the late first-half lead, though Atlanta pulled within four thanks to a field goal.
