LeGarrette Blount Embarrasses Rams on 43-Yard Touchdown Run (Video)
The New England Patriots took a quick lead as LeGarrette Blount geeked most of the Los Angeles Rams defense on a long touchdown run.
While you may be waiting for Todd Gurley (or someone else) to breakout again in the 2016 NFL season, New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount has established himself as one of the best players at his position. A bruising runner that gets better as the game goes on, he’s been a monster in New England. So it shouldn’t have been shocking in the first quarter when Blount went to work against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 13.
What may have been a bit shocking, though, was the way that the rumbling running back went about his business.
Just across midfield, Blount took a handoff from Tom Brady that looked like it was supposed to go up the gut. When the back didn’t see a hole, though, he made a nice jump cut out to the right side. From there he turned on the jets to get the edge and past the first two lines of defense. Once in the secondary, though, he continued to make fools of the Rams defense, changing speeds and faking until he’d gone 43 yards for the Patriots touchdown:
This is absolutely dominant in so many ways by Blount. Even if we aren’t accustomed to seeing him showing off speed (if you call this speed), he still managed to get past the entire LA defense.

Make no mistake, there are some elite running backs in the NFL currently. And there’s a top-tier that LeGarrette Blount probably hasn’t quite reached. But with the work that he’s been putting in with the Patriots in 2016, it’s at least within reach.
