Taking a look at when Atlanta Falcons 2017 training camp begins as the defending NFC Champions aim to get past their horrible Super Bowl 51 loss

Despite the fact that it happened five months ago, the effects of Super Bowl LI still have to be felt by the Atlanta Falcons. They were under 20 minutes of game play away from a resounding victory over the New England Patriots — then the collapse happen. They allowed 25 unanswered points in regulation, which made overtime all but a formality as Tom Brady and Co. topped them.

Now the Falcons face the task of getting past that heading into the 2017 NFL season. That’s a tall order for any team, but perhaps even more so for Atlanta. Many credited last year’s offensive coordinator, Kyle Shanahan, with the explosiveness of one of the best units in the league. Now he’s the head coach in San Francisco, though. And the Falcons will look to a man unproven in the NFL, Steve Sarkisian, to take over the offense now.

With that said, the Atlanta offense is still stacked. Matt Ryan is the reigning MVP and he’s flanked by a number of huge weapons such as Julio Jones, Devonta Freeman and Mohamed Sanu. What’s more, the Falcons improved their defense greatly this offseason. First-round pick Takkarist McKinley figures to be a beast, as does defensive tackle Dontari Poe and another rookie in linebacker Duke Riley. Getting Desmond Trufant healthy surely won’t hurt, either.

Still, no one truly knows what to expect from the Falcons this season. Thus, how things go in training camp could be fascinating to watch and speculate upon. So then, when does the Atlanta Falcons 2017 training camp start?
