The Green Bay Packers have a strong roster but could use some help in a few key areas. Here are five players they should target ahead of the 2019 NFL trade deadline.

The Green Bay Packers are off to their best start since 2015 (6-0). At 5-1 this season, Green Bay is proving to be one of the elite teams in the NFC, and could even challenge for the No. 1 overall seed in the playoffs. The Packers have a strong roster at the moment, but could benefit by acquiring a key playmaker at the NFL trade deadline.

One of the biggest weaknesses on the entire team this season has been the wide receiver position. With Davante Adams nursing a turf toe injury the past two weeks, the Packers have been extremely lackluster at receiver. Four of the Packers receivers currently on the roster are former undrafted free agents.

Geronimo Allison, Jake Kumerow, Darrius Shepherd and Allen Lazard were all undrafted, while Marquez Valdes-Scantling, the team’s de facto No. 1 target at the moment, was a fifth-round selection. Lazard emerged as a breakout player against the Lions in Week 6, but all the others were underwhelming. Because of that, the team recently signed former Raiders receiver Ryan Grant.

Meanwhile, the tight end group has been even worse. The aging Jimmy Graham has arguably been the worst player on offense this season. Marcedes Lewis has been reliable but cannot be counted on to be a legitimate receiving threat at this time. Robert Tonyan, another former undrafted free agent, has missed extended time with a hip injury.

If the Packers want to be true Super Bowl contenders in 2019, general manager Brian Gutekunst will make a move for a legitimate receiving threat in the coming days. Time will tell whether this happens, but Aaron Rodgers cannot keep doing things on his own.

Here are five players the Packers should consider trading for at the 2019 NFL trade deadline on Oct. 29.
