The Dallas Cowboys need to make some tough calls this offseason

Entering the season, the Dallas Cowboys had Super Bowl aspirations. Now as we enter Week 13, they have just three wins and are one of the biggest disappointments in the entire NFL.

It’s easy to point to the loss of Dak Prescott and say this is why they have been so bad but that’s only part of the issue. Even before Dak suffered his gruesome ankle injury, this team was a mess. Their defense was — for lack of a better word — terrible and the offense was very inconsistent.

Had Prescott stayed healthy, they likely would have won their atrocious division but then would have been bounced in the playoffs. With that being the case, the Cowboys need to make some tough calls this offseason as they rebuild their roster.

On the clock at fourth overall, the Cowboys have a tough call to make already. They know they need to address their offensive line if they’re going to keep Dak Prescott safe. However, in this mock, Penei Sewell is already off the board and it might be a stretch to take any other prospects at the position this early. So instead, they switch their focus to another glaring need ‚— cornerback.

Dallas did luck out in the 2020 NFL Draft with Trevon Diggs sliding into the second round and while he finished the season on IR, he was starting to come around for them. Now, they land his former teammate at Alabama as they take Patrick Surtain II here.

The son of a three-time Pro Bowl corner, Surtain has some big shoes to follow and he’s done a great job of living up to the expectations. In Dallas, he would provide the lockdown corner they need after allowing Byron Jones to walk in free agency.
