Charles Woodson has struggled to find a home since parting ways with the Green Bay Packers earlier this offseason. But he now has at least one offer on the table ensuring he will play in the NFL this season.

Ian Rappoport tweeted:

“Charles Woodson update, via agent Carl Poston. He plans on visiting <s>#</s>Raiders on Tuesday. He received an offer from <s>#</s>Broncos, is still open”

It makes you wonder though why he hasn’t immediately signed that offer with the Broncos. They are a winning NFL team that could position him to make another run at the Super Bowl. He does have emotional ties with the Oakland Raiders having played the majority of his career in the bay area.

But for a player who’s career is winding down you’d think that another Super Bowl ring and a Ray Lewis like ending to his career would be the goal.

Of course having already won a Super Bowl ring an ending with the team that he started with is desirable as well.

Either way it looks like he could be headed to the AFC west for sure.

Titus Young’s life continues to spiral out of control as he gets deeper and deeper into troubles. Young is already facing 8 different charges according to Rotoworld, and now he is being accused of domestic violence.

Now the mother of his 9 month old child has filed for, and granted, a temporary restraining order against Young. When he is released from jail in Orange County he won’t be allowed within 100 feet of her.

“He would say things like, ‘I understand why O.J. killed his wife.’ He says, ‘We’re always gonna be a family and I’m always going to be his,’ ” the restraining order request states, according to the Press-Enterprise of California. “He got mad and yelled at my neighbors and tried to fight multiple people that he doesn’t even know.”

Titus Young has had a rough week to say the least. The Detroit Free Press summed it up:

“On Tuesday, Young pleaded not guilty to eight charges stemming from two separate incidents in a seven-day span, including breaking into an Orange County home, assaulting police officers and burglary of a gas station.”

Young is facing up to 7 1/2 years in prison for his charges. On top of that the woman is seeking a permanent restraining order and has a hearing set for May 29th.

“He is not afraid of any authority. He even text me and told me he was king,” the woman wrote in the restraining order, according to the Press-Enterprise. “He used to play for the Detroit Lions and he had many violent problems there. They also could explain (his) unstable mental problem, that he refuses help for.”

The Dallas Cowboys have always been accused of being a country club, and it looks like they might be on the market for a new club house. For 28 years they’ve been headquartered at Valley Ranch, which essentially is north Irving in Texas.

The old Texas Stadium was in Irving as well.

But now they’ve moved to Arlington, TX in Jerry Jones’s pride and joy, also known as Cowboys Stadium. And now that the new toy shine is wearing off their stadium Jones is looking for a new project, new team facilities.

This one is really over due and relatively reasonable. Having a 28 year old facility makes it hard to attract top free agents. I remember traveling with friends on recruiting trips in high school and going to some colleges and seeing their facilities and thinking our high school’s were better. It does leave a negative impression.

According to a Dallas Morning News report by David Moore, Frisco and Arlington are cities ready to welcome the team. Frisco is even further away from the new Cowboys stadium than Valley Ranch. That doesn’t make much sense. Frisco currently is the host of the Dallas Stars practice facility, but they’ve been looking to move closer to the American Airlines Center near downtown Dallas.

Supposedly Arlington officials have met with the Cowboys about building a practice facility near the stadium. This makes more sense than Frisco.

There are now plans yet and for the 2013 season they’ll remain at Valley Ranch.

Mike Wallace has followed LeBron James and taken his talents to south beach. And while he is leaving a two time Super Bowl champion quarterback to catch balls from a young one still looking to prove himself he isn’t stressed about it.

In fact, he thinks Ryan might be able to throw the ball further than Ben Roethlisberger.

“Both have strong arms. Ryan has a cannon, can really fling it,” Wallace told the Miami Herald. “Ryan may be able to throw the ball a little farther than Ben. Obviously, Ben is more experienced in game time experience. The way it’s going, it won’t take long for Ryan to be one of the great quarterbacks. I feel like we can make a lot of big plays.”

Mike Wallace has been pigeonholed as a one trick pony only capable of going deep, so a quarterback with a big arm is an essential.

“By the time we get to training camp, we’ll be fine. We throw two to three times after practice every day,” Wallace said. “I like this team. I like how everybody works. Not much talking, just grinding. That’s the way it should be. I’m one of the older guys on this team, so it’s different than being in Pittsburgh.”

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley has had a very outspoken offseason so far. First, he predicted that the Lions would win the NFC Championship and go to the Super Bowl.

Now is declaring that Ndamukong Suh and himself make up the best defensive tackle duo in the NFL.

“Of course,” Fairley told the Lion’s website. “We’re going to give guys trouble, man. It’s like pick your poison this year with our defensive line. You cannot come in and double-team Ndamukong and you can’t come in and double-team me.”

The Detroit Lions bolstered their defensive front by drafting defensive end Ezekiel Ansah in the first round. It does give them a formidable front line loaded with first round draft picks, except for Jason Jones who was drafted in the 2nd round. Assuming that everyone played up to their potential they’d certainly have their hands full.

“You won’t be able to double-team Ziggy (Ansah) or Jason Jones or Willie (Young). You have to pick who you’re going to bring your back to chip. We’re going to feed off each other, and when we get that chemistry down, it’s going to look real good for us.”

I don’t think anyone would be too worried about initially rookie defensive end Ezekiel Ansah. But the rest of the line could present enough problems that he could take advantage of the lack of attention.

The biggest thing for Fairley though is staying healthy. He had an injury plagued first season but had a strong finish to his second season.

“I’m where I want to be coming into OTAs and minicamp and everything, which right now is at 315,” Fairley said. “We still have two months before training camp, but I think I’m at where I want to be.”

“I’ve been blessed,” DeAngelo Hall said in an interview on NFL Network. “I’ve been in this league a long time, I’ve made a lot of money – I got $8 million to play eight games in Oakland. So for me this time around it wasn’t about the money.”

What DeAngelo Hall is referring to is the 2008 NFL Season. In 2008, Hall got a $7 million signing bonus and made $1 million in base salary when the Raiders cut him midway through the season. And apparently $8 million was enough for Hall.

We’ve seen athletes go broke who’ve made far more than $8 million in their career. ESPN did a “30 for 30″ movie about it. This can only mean that DeAngelo Hall has managed his money far better then any other athlete making that kind of money. Which by all means is not in the discussion of highest paid athletes.

In fact, he was cut again in March by the Washington Redskins and resigned with them for less money. And that doesn’t bother him at all be cause he’s made his ‘nest egg.’ He took less money because he believes in what the Redskins are doing.

“We started something here in Washington with coach [Mike] Shanahan,” Hall said. “That was the biggest thing I wanted to stress. I felt like my contract along with Haynesworth was the reason we were in the situation we were in. So for me it wasn’t about the money. I wanted to come back here, I wanted to finish something I started; I grew up in the Virginia Beach area, I’m a local kid, went to Virginia Tech so I wanted to be a part of this football team. I’ve been a part of it when we weren’t so good so to finally be on the cusp of being great, I want to be a part of that. I was willing to take that pay cut and get back on this football team and help us win.”

This season Hall signed a deal that gives him a $250K signing bonus, $1 million base salary and $1 million in incentives.

As Tim Tebow sits on the open free market and speculation about which team will sign Skip Bayless’s favorite quarterback grows. And in an unprecedented move teams come out and deny any interest in a particular player. The Jacksonville Jaguars general manager said they were not interested in the hometown hero.

Now the Cleveland Browns are announcing their lack of interest.

“I think Tim’s a great kid, I really do,” general manager Michael Lombardi said, via The Chronicle-Telegram. “Unfortunately, Tim has to get somewhere where he can develop his skills as a passer. Because in the NFL, it’s a passing league. You’ve got to be able to throw, so Tim’s got to be able to develop that skill.

“And when you commit to Tim, like Denver did the last eight games of the season when Tim was playing, you’re committing to that whole style of play. It’s all or nothing and that becomes very difficult and that’s kind of not the vision of where we’re headed.”

The problem is that Tebow is a victim of his own media hype machine. Any team that brings him on, no matter what their intentions are, falls under the scrutiny of Tebowmania. Look at what happened with the New York Jets, it’s clear Tebow was a distraction whether they admit it or not. And that attention, which is negative, might not balance out the leadership qualities he brings to the table.

Many NFL running backs are less than excited about the new helmet rule in the upcoming 2013 season. Some have said that it’s hard to change their running style, others have said that they won’t change. Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray is of the latter group.

“I’m not changing my running style,” Murray told the San Antonio Express-News. “If I get fined, hopefully Romo will take care of the first couple for me. I’m doing it for him.

His quarterback Tony Romo signed a new six-year $108 million dollar contract this offseason. He certainly could afford to pay some fines if DeMarco Murray is helping Romo lead the Cowboys offense to the playoffs, but that 15 yard penalty would offset any help. Unfortunately for Murray, it is against the rules for players to pay teammates fines.

The Cowboys have struggled to find a running back to replace Emmitt Smith almost as much, if not more so, than finding a quarterback to replace Troy Aikman. DeMarco Murray seems to be the man to carry the load though he has battled injuries. And while this rule is designed to protect the defender it is also designed to protect the runner.

“We’ve talked about it. We are going to have a plan to try to get better than that. He’s explosive enough that he can freeze people’s feet and get away from them and do the things he needs to do to gain more yards,” Cowboys running back coach Gary Brown said. “What is going to happen is he’s going to be better because he will be able to see. He will have to keep his eyes up, his head up. . . . We want them to be safe. We want them after their careers are done to be able to play with their children and things like that. So it is a bigger picture. It’s for their future. . . . If you keep your head up, you can see what’s going on. If you drop your head . . . you are going to break your neck eventually.”

The dynamic wide receiver ended the season on an explosive run. In the last 8 games of the season he caught 10 touchdown passes on 50 receptions and amassed 879 yards receiving. That averages out to 17.58 yards per reception.

But it hasn’t always been so smooth for Dez Bryant. He’s had many off the field issues, from being banned from Dallas area malls, to feuds with rapper Lil Wayne and a domestic abuse charge.

But Dez Bryant is growing up, dare we say maturing, and has a new mindset going into the 2013 season.

“It’s a whole different mindset going in,” Bryant said, via ESPN. “No more games. No more wondering. I know what I’m doing. I got to come in and do what I did at the end of last year, and I hope to build on that.”

Dez famously said he was thinks he can reach 2,000 yards receiving and 20 touchdowns in a season. Certainly lofty goals for any wide receiver, but the mentality is in the right place and he could be poised to have a break out season.

The Cowboys have a lot of options to spread the ball around with Miles Austin and draft pick Terrence Williams. As always there is the reliable tight end Jason Witten, not to mention the newly drafted tight end Gavin Escobar.

This depth could be a blessing and curse for Bryant. At the same time it could limit his targets and receptions, but at the same time it could free him up to take advantage of the balls that do come his way.

“I feel like we have a great receiving corps,” Bryant said. “We’re good if someone goes down. We have great enough receivers who can go in and contribute and make plays for this team.”

The Arizona Cardinals have signed inside linebacker Karlos Dansby according to Darren Urban. The deal is only for one year and the amount isn’t known yet. This isn’t his first stop in the desert, actually, it’s a homecoming of sorts. Dansby played the majority of his career in Arizona before joining the Miami Dolphins.

It’s hard to explain while Karlos Dansby has had a hard time finding a new job. He was ranked by Pro Football Focus as the #13 inside linebacker last season. It could be because he is 32 years old and teams are looking to get younger. In the flat cap era it is possible he set his price tag to high and lost out early in free agency.

Nevertheless he is coming to Arizona as a band-aid of sorts. Daryl Washington starts the season with a four game suspension. Washington is an emerging star and clearly the future.

Jasper Brinkley and Lorenzo Alexander will most likely compete for the other inside linebacker spot. But Dansby shouldn’t expect to be benched when Washington returns and can still expect to contribute to this defense. He started 16 games and 1,123 snaps last season.
