Titus Young’s life continues to spiral out of control as he gets deeper and deeper into troubles. Young is already facing 8 different charges according to Rotoworld, and now he is being accused of domestic violence.

Now the mother of his 9 month old child has filed for, and granted, a temporary restraining order against Young. When he is released from jail in Orange County he won’t be allowed within 100 feet of her.

“He would say things like, ‘I understand why O.J. killed his wife.’ He says, ‘We’re always gonna be a family and I’m always going to be his,’ ” the restraining order request states, according to the Press-Enterprise of California. “He got mad and yelled at my neighbors and tried to fight multiple people that he doesn’t even know.”

Titus Young has had a rough week to say the least. The Detroit Free Press summed it up:

“On Tuesday, Young pleaded not guilty to eight charges stemming from two separate incidents in a seven-day span, including breaking into an Orange County home, assaulting police officers and burglary of a gas station.”

Young is facing up to 7 1/2 years in prison for his charges. On top of that the woman is seeking a permanent restraining order and has a hearing set for May 29th.

“He is not afraid of any authority. He even text me and told me he was king,” the woman wrote in the restraining order, according to the Press-Enterprise. “He used to play for the Detroit Lions and he had many violent problems there. They also could explain (his) unstable mental problem, that he refuses help for.”

The passing game has clearly become the norm in the NFL. And it’s not enough to have a great quarterback, he needs weapons. Running backs can be dual threats and great for check downs. Tight ends are go to targets in the red zone, but what about the rest of the field? You need players with hands to make the big catches and there are some quality players available if you have the pockets and cap space.

Free agency starts before the draft and begins March 12th.

Despite Jeff Fisher’s insistence that Titus Young was strictly released due to contractual issues he wasn’t claimed off waivers for a second time in as many weeks.

Some aren’t shocked by this. Some are.

Titus Young has been gifted with the scarlet letter in the NFL, the dreaded “troublesome wide receiver” label. And it’s emblazoned all over his chest, or Twitter account.

Veteran players, Hall of Fame players couldn’t shake this label. Terrell Owens tried and got black balled by the league essentially. Randy Moss played for several teams in the same season then retired and is trying to make a come back.

St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher though insisted they claimed Titus Young off waivers to negotiate with him and partially in an effort to keep themselves from having to compete with other NFL teams. Regardless of whether that’s true or not, releasing him 10 days later helped that label grow.

Apparently though there wasn’t much competition and the Rams were the only ones to put a claim on him last time he was on waivers.

So it’ll be hard for him to find a team, and he certainly won’t go early in free agency. He’ll be a last minute acquisition by a team that failed in free agency desperate for a wide receiver. It might even take into preseason or season for him to get signed to replace a player who was injured.

He caused this problem for himself, but it’s sad to see.

Nate Burleson Shocked St Louis Rams Released Titus Young

If you don’t know the St. Louis Rams cut wide receiver Titus Young just 9 days after picking him up off waivers. This helped cement many peoples opinions of Titus Young as a trouble maker. Earlier today however Jeff Fisher said that the reason for the Rams releasing Titus Young had nothing to do with his personality or reputation.

Instead, Fisher suggested it was simply a chance to negotiate with Young before he hit the open markets. A savvy business move.

Nate Burleson went on NFL AM this morning and amongst making a pitch for Reggie Bush to come to Detroit addressed the Titus Young situation. The quotes from the show were transcribed by Dave Birkett of The Detroit Free Press.

“It was very shocking. I got a text message that morning from my little brother, because people in my family know how much I love Titus and how much I tried to be hands-on with him. And the text I sent back was just, ‘Wow,’ with exclamation points. I really couldn’t wrap my mind around it because in this league you’re known as what you do last. When you get cut by a team, released by a team, there’s a certain taint that you have on yourself and I just don’t want him to get that this early in the career.”

Certainly that “taint” he references is hitching it’s wagon to Titus Young. But Nate Burleson tried to shed some light on why Titus Young seemingly acted out and threw public Twitter tantrums.

“For Titus, he’s so competitive, and he wanted to be so much of playmaker, and he wanted to be ‘the guy,’ it got in the way of him being a great teammate. He’s a really good kid and, hopefully, he’ll get a chance to play, because, plain and simple, I’d rather see Titus in a jersey than sitting at home on the couch.”

We all are aware of the new locker room cancer that is Titus Young. He has gone on Twitter barrages, said he’s better than megatron and almost solidified any doubt that he is crazy. Well when the Detroit Lions unsurprisingly cut the young wide receiver the St. Louis Rams picked him up.

Then they released him 10 days later.

Well that certainly cements that this kid is a problem child and a detriment to any team who’d risk bring him in their locker room. Rams head coach Jeff Fisher however went on “The Fast Lane” on ESPN 101 in St Louis and clarified the situation.

And by clarifying we mean throwing Titus Young a bone and potentially saving his career by helping him get one more chance.

As reported by Sports Radio Interviews:

“We wanted to go into detail with the young player. So if you let him clear waivers then you’re competing with the rest of the clubs and he’s on the free-agent circus tour, if you will, and you’re doing a brief interview and so on and so forth. So we felt that by claiming him … we would have a lot more time to do that. And so we did so. We claimed him, we brought him in, we spent a great deal of time with him. … And at the end of the extended interview process we just felt that we were better off going on as an organization.”

Certainly makes sense from a logistical standpoint. Makes you wonder though if that were the case why more teams don’t practice this?
