Tom Brady may be 36 and he may be old in terms of NFL standards, however according to a recent interview he feels as young as ever. With that said, Brady actually has the ability to make good on his words. Last season with some of the most lack luster talent in the NFL, Brady still managed to pass for numerous yards. The 2013 Patriots really amazed me in 2013 because of the way their offense was able to operate, despite numerous set backs. For instance with numerous injuries to offensive threats such as TD monster Rob Gronkowski and RB Shane Vereen, Tom Brady and his rag tag gang of Kenbrell Thompkins and Aaron Dobson looked as menacing as the Chicago Cubs in the playoffs. Yet, Brady was able to throw for 4,343 yards and 25 touchdowns in 2013.  As the season wore on and Brady was able to establish a solid connection with Julian Edelman, the Patritos were able to establish somewhat of a passing game.

What surprised me was that the Patriots did get former Carolina WR Brandon LaFell. At Carolina, LaFell didn’t play a huge role in the passing game, however he was still able to add some decent yardage regardless. Where the Patriots are in decent shape in comparison with last season is that all of their players are healthy and ready to play (a luxury that Brady had to do without last season). Brady time after time could not connect with his rookie receivers and thus his passing numbers initially suffered. This season, Brady has had time to establish connections with his receivers and should take that into the season with high hopes. What amazed me about last season was that despite such adversity, Brady was able to pull out an MVP like season and lead the Pats to the AFC Championship.

I think that even if his receivers are garbage in 2014, Brady is still going to find a way to score fantasy points. He has the arm and the coaching in order to take in any defense. He can make the best out of a bad situation; something you don’t find in many fantasy QBs.
