The NFL’s 10 Hottest and Coldest Teams; New England Patriots and Chicago Bears Headline The Lists

5. New York Giants:
Where to start with the G-Men…well, for one they’re the streakiest team in the league. They began the year with two-straight losses, then won three in a row and have followed that will four consecutive losses. The weird thing is Eli Manning hasn’t played horribly this year (17 TDs, 6 INTs) yet this team is one of the coldest in the NFL. They’re in third place in the NFC East and far from playoff contention.
4. Carolina Panthers:
Carolina was a sexy Super Bowl pick before the year began and it started 3-2 out of the gate. But since they Panthers have gone 0-4-1 including four straight losses. Fourth-year quarterback Cam Newton has seemingly regressed in 2014 with just about no explanation. They’re in second place in the NFC South (a surprisingly weak division), but do not have a realistic shot at seeing the postseason this year.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers:
The Buccaneers have mustered only one win in 2014. Their five-game losing streak has them sitting in last place of the NFC South. Their total net points this season sits at an abysmal -105 points and their quarterback play has been lackluster to say the least. Second-year signal caller Mike Glennon hasn’t been making a ton of mistakes, but he hasn’t made a ton of plays either.
2. Oakland Raiders:
Oakland is the one NFL team that hasn’t won a game yet this year, but still they come in at No. 2 on this list. That is because they’ve put up better efforts in the last few weeks than the team at No. 1 has. Even so, they’re 0-9 and obviously in last place of the AFC West. Rookie quarterback Derek Carr has actually played better than I expected this year (13 TDs, 9 INTs) but hasn’t been able to guide the team to victory yet.
1. Chicago Bears:
The Bears are quite simply in disarray. Some people thought they’d ride their potentially elite offense all the way to the Super Bowl this year. Instead they’re sitting alone in last place in the NFC North riding a three-game losing streak (going 1-4 over their last five). In back-to-back games they’ve allowed 50 points, the first time in franchise history that has happened, and their last loss was a blowout defeat to their bitter rival Green Bay.
There are other teams with longer losing streaks, but no team has gone more dramatically cold than Chicago has in recent weeks. Chicagoans are screaming for a new quarterback and head coach. Will this debacle bring about change in the Windy City?
