10. Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers

Struggling with injuries all year long (not referring to the car accident), Newton has looked a bit more comfortable for the last few weeks. He didn’t have to do much in Carolina’s win over Atlanta on Sunday to clinch the NFC South, as the defense took care of business, but Newton has looked much better. He’s seemingly dealt with ankle issues all year and looked a bit lethargic in previous games, but looks much better on his feet in recent weeks. He hasn’t had a great season this year – nowhere close to last year’s season – and he still ranks towards the bottom of playoff quarterbacks.

9. Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens

After Baltimore’s loss to Houston, the Ravens needed a win and some help to make the postseason, and Flacco delivered with some clutch throws down the stretch against Cleveland. He’s had a better season than most have expected. Flacco has been a terrific playoff quarterback: he is 4-0 with 11 touchdowns and no picks in his last four playoff games – those, of course, came during Baltimore’s 2012 Super Bowl run.

If Flacco is able to heat up at the right time, the Ravens could be a dangerous team in the playoffs. Baltimore’s defense has been getting the job done lately, but the offense has been somewhat stagnant. However, if Flacco somehow manages to recreate his magic from 2012, the Ravens could have a similar type of run.
