7. Colt McCoy, Washington Redskins
There wasn’t much to be excited about for the Washington Redskins in 2014, especially with the issue that they had at the quarterback position. Robert Griffin III never seemed to get comfortable, and there was a lot of drama between him and head coach Jay Gruden. Colt McCoy stepped in as a starter for a short period, and showed that he does have legitimate NFL potential.
During the five games that he played on in 2014, he threw for 1,057 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions.
McCoy was drafted back in the 2010 NFL Draft, and was a third-round pick by the Cleveland Browns. He hadn’t shown too much potential up until this past year, and is now in line to get a new deal after showing off some talent. It isn’t likely that he’ll play much if at all in 2015, but he has still shown enough to earn his way onto some teams roster.
Expect to see McCoy get signed fairly early on in offseason action, but at the very least he’ll be brought in for training camp and given a chance to play his way onto a roster. He is 28 years old and has some NFL experience, and has the ideal resume to be a contending teams backup quarterback.
