There is a chance that the 39-year-old Matt Hasselbeck will choose to retire following his 16th NFL season, but if he doesn’t he is going to be one of the better free agent options on the market. He actually got a bit of playing time in the 2014 season behind Andrew Luck, and played very well in those opportunities.

Hasselbeck ended up totaling 301 yards and two touchdowns during 2014, and didn’t throw an interception. He has thrown for 34,948 yards, 203 touchdowns, and 148 interceptions throughout his NFL career to this point.

Assuming he does come back for one more season, he is still more than capable of being a quality backup. He would be able to make some starts as well if needed, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see a Super Bowl contending team sign him. The Green Bay Packers are a team to keep an eye on, and Hasselbeck would be able to return home to where it all began.

It will be interesting to see what Hasselbeck decides to do, but there will be a spot on a roster for him if he chooses to play another year.
