4. Josh McCown, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Josh McCown was just recently released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he is without a doubt one of the top free agent quarterbacks on the market. He didn’t put together the type of season that Lovie Smith was hoping to get from him, but he wasn’t terrible either. Expectations were much higher for him after his huge breakthrough season with the Chicago Bears in 2013.
During the 2014 season in 11 games played, McCown threw for 2,206 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions.
Whether or not he will land a starting job is the question. He could start for teams like the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets, and those are likely going to be two of the teams most interested in signing him. McCown is 35 years old, which makes this potentially the last contract that he will sign as an NBA player.
It is going to be interesting to see where McCown ends up, but he will be on an NFL roster next season. More than likely he will search for a starting job, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him get it.
