One of the best defensive players available in this draft is Vic Beasley from the University of Clemson. Beasley had an amazing NFL Combine, which helped his stock rise to a Top 10 talent. At 246 pounds, Beasley ran a 4.53 40-yard dash, posted a vertical jump of 41 inches, and maybe most impressively bench pressed 225 pounds 35 times.

In college, Beasley’s amazing athletic abilities translated to production on the field. In his four seasons at Clemson, Beasley had 33.5 sacks, 52.5 tackles for loss, seven fumble recoveries, and two touchdowns. In his Junior and Senior seasons, he was able to total double-digit sacks each year with 12 sacks as a junior, and 13 sacks as a senior.

Addressing the defense has been a goal of the Bears this offseason, as they signed Antrel Rolle and Pernell McPhee. As they switch into the 3-4 however, an outside linebacker on the other side of McPhee could cause a lot of matchup problems for opposing offenses, as it will be difficult to stop them both.
