Round Five: Ty Montgomery, WR/KR, Stanford

What’s better than a PAC-12 receiver?

Two PAC-12 receivers. That’s what.

The Eagles double-dipped at receiver last year, nabbing Jordan Matthews and Josh Huff and I believe they’ll do the same this year to restock a position that’s seen a lot of production leave in each of the last two offseasons.

You know how there are certain players that just fit on a team? Ty Montgomery and the Philadelphia Eagles are just one of those perfect pairs:

Montgomery is an eager blocker and a passionate player that logged time in the slot, outside, on special teams both in coverage and in the return game, and even at wildcat quarterback while playing PAC-12 ball at Stanford.

Did any of that sound like something Chip Kelly might like? All of it. Is the correct answer.

Montgomery’s initial contribution in the NFL will likely come on special teams (an area the Eagles value more than perhaps any other team) but he certainly has potential to make plays on offense as well.

And while he works toward that, he’ll be a hard working, high-motor, high-character guy.

Not a bad find for Kelly and the Eagles in round five.
