5. player. 57.
While the the Bears have great talent at the safety position, adding former Giant Antrel Rolle in the offseason to tag team with Ryan Mundy, there is a lack of depth. Behind Rolle and Mundy, Chicago has only one other safety listed on the roster.

Campbell is very good when he’s positioned just outside of the front-seven box, and is able to cover inside receivers and tight ends on a consistent basis. He is also great at getting his hands on the ball, forcing four fumbles last season, including two in an overtime win against Notre Dame.

He requires some touching up, however, as he is not the most reliable player to be the last man on defense. He was prone to letting big plays break in the middle of the field, and has some trouble in zone coverage.

Campbell is a work in progress, but there is room for improvement here. Chicago’s new defensive backs coach Ed Donatell was responsible for three Pro Bowl safeties during his time with the San Francisco 49ers, so Campbell will be in good hands. The main component with this pick is depth, and Campbell seems like the best available at this point.
. S. Northwestern. Ibraheim Campbell
