Backups
The Saints have a couple of more corners on the roster who will fight for a roster spot alongside with free-agent addition Kyle Wilson. Brian Dixon, a part-time starter last season, will more than likely be granted a roster spot but he will play in subpackages as the 4th or 5th corner.
Terrance Frederick will have to earn his roster spot but I think he won’t make the final 53-men roster. Nevertheless the Saints will make sure to keep him around in case of emergency since he’s familiar with the system.
Delvin Breaux will be a guy to keep an eye on during training camp. Last year’s experiment with Marcus Ball (another former CFL player) was a disaster. Breaux has a chance to be the backup to either Keenan Lewis or Brandon Browner alongside with Brian Dixon and Damian Swann.
Maybe Stanley Jean-Baptiste too? At this point it’s hard to figure out the role of the 2014 second-round pick from Nebraska who barely saw the field last season. Outside corner is the role that fits him better but the competition there is pretty tough. Has he learned enough during his red-shirt rookie year to be granted a roster spot next season?
