1. Ryan Griffin, QB

Against the Baltimore Ravens Griffin had a solid game and the battle for the backup position behind Drew Brees is heating up. He finished the game with 10/17 passes for 112 yards and one touchdown. Veteran Luke McCown started the game last week but he seemed a bit uncomfortable against the Ravens’ starting defense.

With Drew Brees likely to play for at least a quarter we’ll probably see McCown and Griffin play against the same defense so we can do a fair evaluation this time. As of now it’s McCown’s job to lose so he better show more patience in the pocket this time because if Griffin continues to play like he did in the first game he has a real shot at the #2 spot in the depth chart.
