3. Ryan Griffin is done in New Orleans
Most Saints fans expected to see the battle between Luke McCown and Ryan Griffin heat up last night but that didn’t happen because RG4, as Drew Brees likes to call Ryan Griffin, barely saw the field. McCown came in after Brees’ first, lone series and played two quarters before rookie Garrett Grayson went to work, leaving Griffin on the bench until there were 42 seconds left in the game.
This seems to be a clear indication that Sean Payton already made up his mind and Luke McCown will be Brees’ backup for the third year in a row. I’m sure Griffin will find a new team in no time – three years of learning from a future hall of famer will look good on his resumee – but his days in New Orleans are more than likely over.
