Amari Cooper vs. Darrelle Revis

Oakland wide receiver Amari Cooper’s first season has so far been as excellent as many expected it to be. He’s 19th in the league in receiving yards, and boasts an average of 87 yards per game. He’s already had 3 games of 100+ receiving yards including a 5-catch 133-yard performance last week against San Diego.

On the opposite side of the country, Darrelle Revis is having a typical great year. He’s already had 3 interceptions, and has succeeded in limiting his opponents’ top receivers again this year. This week Revis will likely get the task of guarding Cooper.

Levis praised Cooper this week, but it seems as though he may just be leading him into a trap:

"“He’s just a complete receiver,” Revis said of Cooper (via Seth Walder of the NY Daily News), “He’s advanced to be a rookie and he’s one of the top receivers in the league. He was drafted in the first round for a reason,” Darrelle Revis said. “He’s that type of impact player.”"

We all remember the preseason, when Cooper made Arizona Pro-Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson look silly:

So Cooper may well have the ability to beat Revis a few times.  However, I’m betting on the experience and consistency of Darrelle Revis this week to beat out the talented but young Cooper, as this is probably the toughest matchup so far in the rookie’s career.
