For the fifth consecutive season, the New England patriots reached the AFC Championship game last year. While their season did not end how they would have liked, the Patriots still hold strong as one of the best teams in the NFL. After another strong off season, they will enter the 2016 season among the Super Bowl favorites.
There are a lot of OTAs, mini camps, an entire training camp and four preseason games before the Patriots have to make a final decision on their roster, but it is never too early to look ahead and see who the favorites are.
As usual, the Patriots have a loaded roster that is going to be difficult to crack, but Bill Belichick is not afraid to give a less experienced player an opportunity to prove himself if he believes that he is the better player.
There are always going to be roster locks, but undrafted free agents and unproven players are always given a fair opportunity with Belichick and the Patriots. With that in mind, the roster battles are always extremely interesting to watch.
