Dallas Cowboys: 5 Early bold predictions for the 2017 season

3. The offensive line allows less than 25 sacks
Second-year quarterback Dak Prescott is young, 23 years old to be exact. He can afford to take some hits, certainly more than his predecessor could afford later in his career. That doesn’t mean that keeping him upright shouldn’t be a priority.
Since the new-look “Great Wall of Dallas” has been assembled, never once has they allowed less than 25 sacks. Dating back to 2014, the year Zack Martin was drafted, 28 is the fewest sacks they have allowed in a season. Coincidentally, that was last season.
The extra mobility of Prescott certainly helps, but the offensive line is still responsible for keeping opponents out of the backfield. Their task won’t be easy, considering they’ll face the likes of Von Miller, Khalil Mack and Vic Beasley Jr. this season, just to name a few.
The biggest question here will be the starters at right tackle and left guard. The rest of the line is cemented with All-Pros occupying each of the other three positions. Whoever steps up at right tackle will have a large responsibility in handling the quicker edge rushers.
And whichever player that works inside at guard will have to mesh with Travis Frederick to keep the bigger nose tackles out of Prescott’s face. This may be the toughest the challenge on this list for the Cowboys. But I’ll never bet against the best offensive line in the NFL.
