The Los Angeles Chargers have high expectations for 2017, but their next goal should be making it through training camp and the preseason.
The Los Angeles Chargers are only a few weeks away from their first game of the preseason and football fans on the west coast couldn’t be more excited. This is a team that has re-located from San Diego to Los Angeles in only one off season, and will be looking to improve from their dismal record in 2016. Not to mention, they will be attempting to do so with their new head coach, Anthony Lynn.
While it’s definitely realistic the Bolts will get better in 2017, it will could be difficult due to the strength of their divisional opponents. The Denver Broncos, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Oakland Raiders are three teams that have built their rosters to be perennial contenders for the Super Bowl.
At the same time, the Los Angeles Chargers have fallen behind the eight ball a little bit, as they haven’t been in the playoffs since 2013. However, this front office has done a great job of drafting over the past 2-3 seasons and while the Chargers will miss Mike Williams for most of the season, their young defensive superstars like Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa could lead this team to a wildcard birth or an AFC West divisional title in 2017.
That being said, every legitimate football team in the NFL gets better during training camp and in the preseason. I understand not everyone is a fan of playing preseason football games, especially the teams that expect to be in the playoffs. However, every single game in the preseason will ultimately decide whether a player gets hired or fired; don’t tell those guys the preseason doesn’t matter.
That being said let’s take a look at the Chargers’ four preseason games, goals they should have and the predictions for each week.
