New York Jets: 7 Top options in 2018 NFL Free Agency
5. Teddy Bridgewater, QB
Teddy Bridgewater is an injury risk as well, but it’s different than Robinson’s situation. Bridgewater missed nearly two full seasons, and will be much less of a risk for the Jets.
Even though Bridgewater showed in his first two seasons what he’s capable of, he frankly can’t demand huge dollars like Robinson can. Teams will want to see if he can even play. Thus, his contract will be structured in a way for teams to be able to take minimal risk at the beginning.
He does have the talent to be a good quarterback in this league, though. Prior to the injury he completed 64.9% percentof his passes and had 28 passing touchdowns in his first two seasons. He had an additional four rushing touchdowns and 401 yards in those two seasons.
If they build the team around him properly, he can be the franchise quarterback the fans and organization have been craving since the end of the Joe Namath Era. Give him a good offensive line and solid weapons, and he will be able to take this team where it hasn’t been in a long time, the Super Bowl.
