2018 NFL Quarterback Power Rankings, Week 2: Pretenders start to fall
By Randy Gurzi
24. Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton had his customary pick in the team’s opening week win over the Colts, but outside of that, he played a strong game. The Bengals looked like a well-oiled machine with a full offseason in Lazor’s offense and Dalton was a big reason why.
He completed 21-of-28 passes for 243 yards with a couple touchdowns. He didn’t get more yardage than Andrew Luck on the Colts, but he was able to lead his club to victory. He did have some help with Joe Mixon running well, which surely helped the team keep Indy off balance and Dalton comfortable.
23. Sam Darnold, New York Jets
It’s one week and we can’t overreact too much, but Sam Darnold looked like the real deal for the New York Jets. Again, overreactions shouldn’t happen because the Lions looked completely lost against the Jets on Monday Night Football. They turned it over like crazy in this one and gave up touchdowns via the pass, the run, and even an interception and a punt return.
Even so, Darnold was 16-of-21 with two touchdowns and he even shook off a pick-six on his first throw, which isn’t easy to do. The Jets may have found their franchise quarterback.
