Loser: New York Jets

Perhaps the biggest surprise from what happened in the first week of NFL action was what the New York Jets did to the Lions on Monday Night Football. In Week 2, however, Sam Darnold and Co. looked much more human as they were topped by the Dolphins in a game where they truly didn’t make a lot of noise until late in the game. With a rookie starting quarterback, there is going to be great variance with this team, but coming back to Earth this hard is a loss, without question.

Winner(ish): Josh Allen

I’ve been an incredibly vocal critic of Josh Allen from the start of the 2018 NFL Draft process. However, I’m not one to hold grudges or not admit that I’m wrong. While I’m not fully admitting that I’m wrong just yet, I am saying that Allen was far more impressive than expected in his first-career start.

Let’s not get it twisted, the Buffalo Bills are absolutely atrocious. If they were to go 0-16 this season, it wouldn’t be a shock. Having said that, Allen came in and made things happen in this game at times, making some nice throws, including showing off his arm strength. He’s still not a pristine quarterback, but he’s a player that showed promise, and that’s more than I thought he could do at this point.

Winner: Andrew Luck

Considering how long it took for him to start throwing an actual football, there was rightful skepticism about Indianapolis Colts quarterback coming into the 2018 season. However, he started to help put worries at ease in Week 1 against a good Bengals team, then did that even more so this week. Luck was a stud again as he led the Colts to a Week 2 victory over the Washington Redskins. If he keeps that up, he’ll be revered as a superstar once again.
