5. Mike McCarthy, former Green Bay Packers head coach

There are a lot of question marks when it comes to Mike McCarthy. How much was it due to the Packers typically not bringing in free agents? How much was Aaron Rodgers, and how much was McCarthy?

With those things not quantifiable, let’s look at the numbers. His .618 record as head coach of the Packers in good for 28th on the all-time list — one of only 35 coaches to post a career record above .600. He’s also one of 33 coaches with at least 120 wins.

When it comes to the postseason, he has a good record as well. In 13 seasons, he made the playoffs nine times. His 10 playoff wins ranks him tied for 13th all-time, and he won a Super Bowl. He’s also credited for being the driving force behind the development of Aaron Rodgers, which is what the Jets need.

When it comes to what happened with McCarthy in Green Bay, it could be a combination of things on what went wrong, but he’s not a bad coach. In the end, his résumé stacks up. However, his last two seasons with the Packers are a glaring indictment. The positives do outweigh the negatives, though.
