9. Buffalo Bills: D.K. Metcalf, WR, Ole Miss

After adding Josh Allen as the quarterback last season, the Buffalo Bills need to get to work adding a team around him. They have several needs with offensive tackle, running back, and defensive end being among them. However, with Allen still learning the ropes in the NFL, adding a go-to wide receiver is the best bet for them at this point.

With that in mind, they add D.K. Metcalf out of Ole Miss. When looking at Metcalf, the first thing that jumps out is his incredible size. Listed at 6-4 and 230 pounds, Metcalf is a massive target who has no problem winning physical battles. He’s also able to win contested passes down the field, which will surely appeal to the strong-armed Allen.

Of course, the question becomes all about his health. Metcalf was off to a great start — averaging nearly 22 yards per catch in seven games — before a neck injury slowed him down. He’s healthy now but will have to convince teams that he won’t have problems down the road. What he won’t have to convince them is that he’s a physical freak. Metcalf was the talk of the combine due to his blazing 40-yard dash time and incredibly chiseled physique.

That helps the Bills feel great about grabbing him this high. Now, once on an NFL roster, Metcalf will need to work on his route running. Ole Miss didn’t have him run a full route tree, but even with those limitations, he will be the best option for the Bills from the day he arrives.
