Round 4, Pick 129: Damien Harris, RB, Alabama

The Colts drafted two running backs last year, and they don’t need to grab one this year. However, Damien Harris kept slipping, and I really like what he’s able to bring to this Colts team. He moves well for his size, and he can hit the holes that the team’s elite offensive line is able to open up. One major selling point for Harris was the production he had despite a super deep running back room during his time at Bama. Over 3,000 rushing yards are numbers that can’t be ignored.

Round 4, Pick 135: Daylon Mack, DL, Texas A&M

Daylon Mack isn’t the most explosive athlete in this class, but as the Colts are always looking to add depth in the trenches, Mack makes a ton of sense. The Colts have dealt with a number of injuries in the past, and this would allow them to have a player in place in case that happens. He also gives them a player to help keep their rotation fresh. When opposing offenses are running slow late in the game, Mack will be keeping the power coming.

Round 5, Pick 164: DaMarkus Lodge, WR, Ole Miss

Three of DaMarkus Lodge’s teammates got picked in the first three rounds of this mock draft. He falls to the Colts here to give them another big receiving threat on the outside. Lodge has good size at 6-2 and 209 pounds, and he was the team’s second-most productive wideout behind stud A.J. Brown. He had 65 catches for 877 yards in his final college season. Lodge pairs well with Harry to give them a couple of young playmakers on the outside.

Round 6, Pick 199: Isaiah Buggs, DL, Alabama

I added one defensive lineman in the fourth round, and I decided to add another one. At this point in the draft, you’re looking for players with high upsides. That’s what Isaiah Buggs has. He was a possible day two pick when the season started, and, due to the breakouts of other players — including his teammate Quinnen Williams — he fell down boards. If he’s able to recapture some of that explosiveness and playmaking he showed in his first couple of seasons, this will be a home run.

Round 7, Pick 240: Shareef Miller, EDGE, Penn State

Lottery tickets abound here. With our final pick, we grabbed Shareef Miller to give the Colts a rotational EDGE rusher. Miller has great speed that allows him to cause problems for tackles that play too flat-footed on the edges. He has a lot to work on, and he won’t be asked to play a starting role from day one, which will make that a lot easier for him. Seventh-round guys don’t always pan out, but never say never.
