Cincinnati Bengals: 2019 season pre-draft record prediction
By Kenn Korb
December
Week 14: at Cleveland
Cleveland has been the league’s doormat for decades at this point. Based on how last season ended, that should be in the past. Cincinnati was completely embarrassed twice by them last year, and they should only be better this time around behind Baker Mayfield, Odell Beckham Jr. and the endless supply of highly-talented young players added in the past few years. It may not be as ugly as the 2018 matchups, but it won’t end with a Cincinnati win.
Cleveland 27, Cincinnati 20
Week 15: vs. New England
A brutal stretch to the end of the year continues, with perhaps the toughest matchup of the year (non-Pittsburgh edition). Talent-wise, this seems like a blowout, but with their division almost definitely wrapped up and likely coming off two heavily contested games, it wouldn’t be a total surprise to see New England not come into Cincinnati breathing fire. They’ll likely still win even if Cincinnati gives a great effort, but it could at least be one of those dreaded moral victories for the home team to learn from for next season.
New England 27, Cincinnati 23
Week 16: at Miami
Their penultimate game of the year puts the Bengals on the road against the team most people would predict to end this coming season with the league’s worst record. If they don’t win this one, they likely begin the Taylor regime with the worse record the franchise had seen since 2010, and all the goodwill and positives from the previous strong effort against New England would be for naught. With all that on the line, they win — barely.
Cincinnati 22, Miami 20
Week 17: vs. Cleveland
Hope you enjoy the win over Miami, because all signs point to Cleveland continuing to beat up on the Bengals. With this win, that’ll be four in a row, and no indication of the rivalry shifting back in Cincinnati’s direction any time soon.
Cleveland 31, Cincinnati 23
