Cleveland Browns: 3 Prospects to avoid in the 2019 NFL Draft
Greg Little, OT, Ole Miss
Let’s set the record straight: In principle, Greg Little is a great left tackle prospect and could be “the guy” for the Browns, still looking for a long-term solution in the wake of Joe Thomas‘s retirement. But in reality, Little is the exact opposite of what the Browns need at that position, and he would likely be a bust of a pick if he fell to No. 49 overall.
Little, a hulking 6-6, 330-pound lineman with a surprising amount of athletic talent, came to Ole Miss as the country’s top recruit. With a talent level off the charts, many crowned Little early on as the next great left tackle prospect. However, that potential never materialized for a variety of reasons.
First and foremost, Little simply got lazy during his time in college. While he was able to get by on his athleticism for the most part, he used that athletic talent to his advantage far too often. The athletic ability Little possesses became a crutch, and it showed against better edge rushers during his final season with the Rebels.
Tying into that, Little’s skillset never developed into something that caught the eye of those at the next level. Once again, he got complacent and used his athletic ability to get by during his college career. If Greg Little wants to be successful at the next level, he’ll need help expanding his skillset by a pretty wide margin. The Browns are ready to win now, and there are better, more prepared tackle prospects they can take later than Little, finding value along the way.
