2019 NFL Mock Draft: Kinnan’s final first-round projection
By Cory Kinnan
Surprise! Rumors are floating around just days before the draft that the Oakland Raiders are going to surprise a lot of people with their pick here in the top five. This surprise has also been rumored to be Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins.
In an odd move, the Raiders sent home all of their scouts just six days before the draft, and it appears Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock are prepared to go rogue. Gruden has never been committed to current quarterback Derek Carr, and selecting Haskins with the fourth pick in the draft would be the icing on the cake.
It is no smokescreen or coincidence the Raiders have met with Haskins three times throughout this pre-draft process and, after spinning it at the combine and his pro day, he looks like an elite quarterback prospect. While this pick is sure to upset Raider Nation, who love Carr, the evidence is out there whether it is to be believed or not.
After shattering nearly every Big Ten passing record in 2018, Haskins is ready and eager to prove he is the best quarterback in this class. With Carr’s play at quarterback better suited for a west coast offense, Gruden goes out and gets his guy with a cannon in Haskins.
