Round 2, Pick 34: Rock Ya-Sin, CB, Temple

The Colts had the 26th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. They traded out of the first round because they felt they could get the same player that they wanted in the second round while adding more picks later. After some rumblings that they would trade out of the 34th overall pick, they stayed there to grab their lockdown cornerback of the future in Temple cornerback Rock Ya-Sin.

More from NFL Spin Zone

Ya-Sin is a physical corner with the ability to battle with any wide receiver he matches up with. As a two-time wrestling champ in high school, he knows how to be physical with his opponents.

During his time at Temple, Ya-Sin showed elite ball skills, and he was always making plays at the point of attack. In his one season of playing time, he had just two interceptions, but he also had 12 pass breakups.

He’s also not afraid to tackle in the run game. Ya-Sin had 47 tackles, and he also had two tackles for loss. The Colts needed an upgrade at the corner position, and Ya-Sin is an instant upgrade for them opposite Pierre Desir. If Quincy Wilson and Nate Hairston are unable to develop their consistency, Ya-Sin should be able to make up for their shortcomings.

Final Grade: B+
