3 reasons Redskins should start Dwayne Haskins over Case Keenum in 2019
By Dan Parzych
1. Early experience could pay off for Haskins
To this day, it is still common for some teams to take the approach of having rookie quarterbacks learn from the sidelines during their first year to help with the NFL adjustment.
But also, some teams like to throw their quarterback into the mix right away to help them gain that early experience to benefit the rookie in the long run, which is exactly what the Redskins should do with Haskins instead of having him watch from the sidelines in 2019.
The sooner Washington allows Haskins to play, the quicker he will be on the level they need him to be to help put the Redskins in the best position possible to be a serious contender in the NFC.
One can only imagine how different things would have been in Washington last season if Alex Smith didn’t suffer that devastating leg injury since the team was in the hunt for a playoff spot and NFC East title, but at least there is hope for 2019.
Haskins proved at Ohio State that he has what it takes to be a winner, and by getting the opportunity to play as a rookie, this will help jumpstart what will hopefully be a promising NFL career as one of the newest members of the Redskins.
