2020 NFL Draft: Roberts’ too-early mock draft for next year
By Ryan Roberts
31. Los Angeles Rams: Jacob Phillips, LB, LSU
Teaming up with this year’s No. 5 overall selection, Buccaneers linebacker Devin White, Jacob Phillips finished second on the LSU Tigers in 2018 with 87 tackles. The 6-4, 229-pound linebacker exhibits phenomenal range, playmaking ability and potential that should be on full display during the 2019 season with the absence of White.
After choosing to pass on the linebacker position until their seventh-round selection of Texas Tech’s Dakota Allen, linebacker remains a high priority for the Wade Phillips led defense in Los Angeles.
32. New England Patriots: Albert Okwuegbunam, TE, Missouri
The Patriots failed to find the successor to future hall of fame tight end Rob Gronkowski in the 2019 NFL Draft. Missouri’s Albert Okwuegbunam boasts the similar large frame and seam busting ability that the Patriots value so heavily.
As Tom Brady enters the final phase of his career, Okwuegbunam can go a long way to provide the Patriots with a big body security blanket on their quest to yet another Lombardi Trophy.
This concludes the first of many 2020 NFL mock drafts. Do you agree with your team’s selection? Who would you rather have? Comment below with your feedback and let’s have a conversation.
