Each NFL team’s record prediction for the 2019 season
By Dan Parzych
Cincinnati Bengals: 6-10
Finally, the Cincinnati Bengals no longer have to deal with Marvin Lewis being part of the picture after all of those years consisting of the former head coach holding the team back from living up to their true potential.
The fact that Lewis has a career 0-7 playoff record, and the Bengals haven’t been to the playoffs in three seasons shows how frustrated fans have been over the years. At least a fresh start with Zac Taylor should help change the culture.
After seeing the kind of success Taylor briefly had with Jared Goff and the Los Angeles Rams, Cincinnati would love nothing more than to see their new head coach do the same with Andy Dalton.
To say the pressure is on Dalton heading into the 2019 season would be a huge understatement. Whether it seems fair or not, the former TCU star has received some of the blame for Cincinnati’s struggles over the last three seasons due to his inconsistent play.
Finishing with only six wins for a second year in a row may not seem like the preference for obvious reasons, but also sometimes this tends to happen with a new coach in place.
Once Cincinnati fully adjusts to Taylor’s new system, it should be only a matter of time before they become a legitimate threat in the AFC. Until then, the Bengals should just hope to be able to compete in 2019 with a tough schedule that consists of games against the AFC East and NFC West on top of their normal division schedule.
